What is EAOP?
EAOP is a state-wide college preparatory program sponsored by the University of California. For over 30 years, EAOP has helped students prepare for college by creating a community of young scholars and offering college-preparatory advising and academic enrichment opportunities. EAOP at UC Berkeley currently serves approximately 3,000 students from Alameda, San Francisco, Contra Costa and Solano counties.
EAOP mission is to close the opportunity gap and increase access to higher education for underserved students, families and communities. Students who are enrolled at an EAOP Partner School and maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher in their college preparatory coursework are eligible to apply to the program. Priority is given to students from low-income families and/or students who will be the first in their family to go to college. In general, students are invited to apply during the spring of their 9th grade year. 90 percent of our students go onto higher education immediately following high school.
We accomplish our mission by:
-
Providing college preparatory information and academic advising
-
Offering intensive academic enrichment opportunities including college preparatory exams for students
EAOP offers academic enrichment programs such as Pre-College Academy (PCA), Summer Sessions, and SAT Academy. If you wish to learn more about these programs, visit our EAOP programs website by clicking here, or visit Ms. Razo in the college and career room. Also, do not hesitate to call or email as well!
